Residential Pest Control
One-time treatments and recurring protection for houses and apartments — ants, spiders, roaches, pantry pests, and the rest of the usual suspects, inside and out.
Aftershock Pest Control is a locally owned pest and wildlife company based in Amsterdam, New York. Ants in the kitchen, mice in the walls, a nest in the eaves — one call and it's handled, by our techs — who treat your place like their own home.
“First the shake, then the shock, then the aftershock.”
Homes, rentals, farms, and businesses from Oneida County to Saratoga County and from Albany County to Warren County — and everywhere in between. Every job starts with finding out why the pests are there — not just spraying and hoping.
One-time treatments and recurring protection for houses and apartments — ants, spiders, roaches, pantry pests, and the rest of the usual suspects, inside and out.
Scheduled service for restaurants, warehouses, offices, and rental properties, with the documentation your health inspector wants to see.
Bats in the attic, squirrels in the soffit, raccoons in the chimney. Certified wildlife control — humane removal, cleanup guidance, and sealing the entry points so they stay out.
Yellowjacket ground nests, wasp nests in the eaves, hornets in the wall void. Nest treatments done right — never sealed in alive to chew their way into your house.
Thorough inspections and targeted treatments for bedrooms, rentals, and multi-unit buildings, with straight talk on what to do before and after we treat.
Spring and fall barrier treatments timed for Upstate New York — stink bugs and cluster flies before they move in for winter, ants and wasps before summer peaks.

Quarterly plans run on a four-visit rhythm — one visit per season, timed to what pests are doing that time of year. Here's what our techs actually do at each visit, in plain words.
Winter
In the cold months, pests like stink bugs, lady beetles, and cluster flies hide inside walls and attics, and mice look for warmth. We inspect the attic and interior, check for activity, and deal with what's wintering inside the home.
Spring
As insects wake up, we treat a protective barrier around the outside of the home — foundation, doors, and windows — to stop pests outside before they ever get in.
Summer
Summer is peak pest season. This visit refreshes the exterior protection at the height of ant, spider, and stinging-insect activity.
Fall
Before cold weather drives rodents and fall invaders inside, we check and seal entry points and prep the home so mice, rats, and overwintering bugs stay out.
The pests we chase most around here — how to spot them, what brings them in, and what we do about it. Same lessons Manny teaches every Wednesday on Know Your Pest.
Camponotus spp.
Signs: coarse sawdust (frass) under baseboards, large black ants trailing at night, faint rustling in walls.
The fix: they nest in damp, softened wood — we find the colony, treat it directly, and point you at the leak or rot feeding it.
Blattella germanica & others
Signs: roaches scattering when the lights come on, pepper-like droppings in cabinet hinges, egg cases under sinks.
The fix: German roaches shrug off sprays. Baits, growth regulators, and crack-and-crevice work break the breeding cycle.
Mus musculus
Signs: rice-shaped droppings along walls, gnawed food boxes, scratching in ceilings after dark.
The fix: a mouse fits through a quarter-inch gap. We trap out the ones inside and seal the way in — exclusion is the real cure.
Halyomorpha halys
Signs: shield-shaped bugs gathering on sunny siding in fall, then turning up indoors all winter.
The fix: timing is everything — an exterior treatment in early fall stops them before they overwinter in your walls.
Vespula spp.
Signs: a steady stream of wasps at one hole in the ground or siding, papery nests under eaves and decks.
The fix: late-summer colonies are big and defensive. We treat the nest itself — no guesswork, no half-dead nest left behind.
Cimex lectularius
Signs: bites in lines, rusty spots on mattress seams, live bugs hiding in headboards and bed frames.
The fix: they hitchhike in luggage and used furniture. Inspection first, then targeted treatment of every harborage — not a fogger and a prayer.
We work the IPM way — Integrated Pest Management. Less guesswork, less product wasted, and results that last past the next rain.
We walk the property inside and out — entry points, moisture, food sources, and where the pest is actually living.
The right ID decides the treatment. A carpenter ant and a pavement ant get handled very differently.
Targeted treatment where the pest lives and travels — following the label, every time, with kids and pets in mind.
We tell you what to fix — the gap, the leak, the woodpile against the house — and check back so it stays solved.
When you call Aftershock, you get our techs — the ones who inspect, treat, and answer for the work. Out on the route they're the techs at your door; on the podcasts they're the voices teaching the trade. And their co-pilot is Manny the Mantis, a born predator who takes pest control personally.
Based at 261 West Main St in Amsterdam, NY — and on the road across two ranges: from Oneida County to Saratoga County, and from Albany County to Warren County, with everywhere in between.
Both ranges, start to finish — if you're between Oneida County and Saratoga County, or between Albany County and Warren County, you're on our route. Just outside it? Call anyway — routes change, and if we can't get to you, we'll tell you straight and point you to someone who can.
